AAU and CS6: Livin in Don’t go to Art School

A few months ago and the week of school starting, AAU quietly cancels all  of the students on CS6 licenses. Then days later, a student stood up, and is now heading the page of Adobe is stealing from Students and Alumni.

This is where things get messy. Many students are pissed at AAU’s Administration, especially Graduates who have cancel CS6 Licenses. Yes, Allumnis and Graduates are without the CS6 licenses. But a few lucky ones can walk away from CS5 .5.

I decided one day to post this page to the Illustration group Facebook to support her for AAU Illustration students. I was the only one on that page to stand up for the rights of the students, and seems that everyone on the Illustration page had given up. I was talking to I believe he was a head of the Digital department and it really turned into an argument. Heated and debated. He kept talking about how a company can be telephoned and that AAU accidently got the wrong licenses because of this. He tells me that I was biased, and I was not doing enough research. He also told me in a manner of speaking, just because onine rep and teacher  said we have perpetual licences, doesn’t mean it is true.  He kept on showing me the EULA page that supposedly the school use for licenses and Adobe. I talked to AAU adobe steals, and I told her about the 3 year agreement. She replies, AAU hasn’t had the licenses for 3 years. SO I told the teacher, that I was here for 1 3/4ths years, and he replied (paraphrasing it), ” We don’t have access to the documents.” Then I said, how can I believe you then? Another student said, why would *insert teacher’s name here” lied? And I replied the same argument that the teacher gave me. Paraphrasing but basically what I said, is I had my full attention not to be biased and playing fair on the situation. I don’t know who to believe. If you said that telephoning happens in a company, how much can I believe him and his written word if he does not have access to the documents or if he is even a higher up. He might be also doing what he is told by the higher ups. I think this is pretty close to Noah Bradly’s Don’t go to art school. If you read, he talks about the money and greed of people running art schools, but he does not hate the teachers working there.  I do not hate educators for schools. I love them all, and I support even my teacher, Craig Marshall. I just feel that sometimes. But the school needs an upgrade, or improvement.

After those two paragraphs, suddenly I couldn’t access the Illustration FB page, so I access the Illustration page through my company page to see what happened afterwards. They deleted my post and when searching for my name, its wasn’t there.  So yes, I have been blocked. Its not really detrimental, even though I like looking at the page everyday, but still, this is saying something to me as a student saying I don’t have any rights to express how I feel.  Or was it really the right page to express freedom of speech. Isn’t that the first constitution? Freedom of speech. Apparently, AAU’s Illustration facebook pages says no. Or even its been warped. Apparently they can allow posts of naked porn which one student got bomb shelled on and never got delete, but they can’t allow something political that is about the school.  I love you art school.

The reason for anger, is that students don’t get to walk away with CS6, or CLoud. Cloud is Subscription based per month and no one wants to pay off that subscription, not even the school for the after graduation. From what I’ve seen from one to two recent news articles  and Adobe steals, it says that the licenses were supposed to be perpetual. I was even told by my teacher, it was a free license to walk away after you graduated. But the school is now telling me is not? Since the first semester started for 1 and 3/4 years?  Students paying 25,000 + extras supplies, shouldn’t be subjected to this kind of treatment as a solution. We understand its a for profit school, but a for profit school or Adobe shouldn’t be doing something this shady.

Im now flustered how AAU is subjecting thier students to this kind of monotony. Students are force to creative cloud, without a fight back. Many told me to give up.  They are only free Adobe steals isn’t going to win. He told me numerous times to “give up this witch hunt”, but I really feel that this should not be shove under the rug.  For me, i am trying best not to be biased about the situations, because documentations are hidden from us and I have no idea what is going in the inner sanctums of AAU (and probably no one does).  However, from AAU’s real estate sales and its fair share of criticism over the years, I can’t help to over look who’s fault it is. Probably not specifically AAU or Adobe, but probably both are at fault anyway, because of the miscommunication between everyone. People who are doing what they are told is not a sufficient answer for me to where the problem lies. We need those documentations to prove what we are agreeing to and AAU is keeping those things private. Alot of students don’t know, or don’t care, but if we were real professionals, we would read the contract and know what we are agreeing upon.

Keep in mind again, I don’t hate everything about this school. As you seen my previous posts, I love alot of things I get to do at the school. I am glad, I took the last semester of Raven’s class and got to be her model. Im appreciative when administration has done right when I get good teachers, find friends, and invite industry on campus. And appreciative they have hours for workshops. And a few teachers I’ve grown to like. And the clubs I’ve been in. And free printing. The only thing because of CS6 and seeing Academy’s criticism on the paper, tells me administrations need to be improved upon. Operating a large school and telephoning should not be an total excuse they didn’t understand the agreements, and we need to know the true answer.

So please, support Sarah Ryan. So far she has gotten the school to extend our licenses to buy us time. I don’t know about winning or loosing, but supporting her is at least trying. As that teacher said, that she will loose, but does it matter? Isn’t the matte she is trying?  Showing that she told the Administration to make a better move and extend the licenses, tells me that she is doing something.  AFter this act the student reps place on me, Im going to definately support them. I have never done any activism before, but I really want to try something and not sit there and let someone win.

Lesson Learn, when comes the words free for a profit school, don’t always believe the teachers. Get notifications from the higher up staff to confirm something. Check your accounts to see whats included in your tuition.

The Bible Videogame: David

This is basically a breaking news feature.  Here we have an excellent example of a Christian video game about David! The Concept art (aparently the artist is from assassin’s creed and stargate) is stunning, and the music is beautiful, and animation is good.  Still they need improvements to the game. Help these guys out with a pledge.

Im drooling a river of hype over this.

I fiddle a specific photo around in photoshop that I took a picture of from the Nor(th) Cal cosplay event, because it was my favorite composition out of all of them. I like the mimminalistic feel of this picture and it looked like a movie poster.

I am so going to miss having Raven-Symoné in class as she is going online next semester, but will be back in the spring. Our last day we exchanged our portraits and hugged each other. It was a real blessing to be in this class and try alot of things and interesting to hang out with her when I got the chance.See ya next Spring raven.

YES PREORDER FOR THIS COMIC IS UP!

19 pages full color, each pre-order includes a gift.

Why preorder?
I don’t feel like relying on my college funding stash and I don’t feel like Kickstarter for a list of reasons. I am currently holding a ‘preorder’ special where you can get a little extra bonus ordering now than later (sticker and/or a postcard print).

This comic is ALREADY completed and printed in an anthology, but I want the individual copy because then I can sell my comic cheaper, and I need a more up-to-date comic for a certain art show I want to enter in (my last self-published comic was more than four years old and does not qualify). The problem is that I would like a set of printed ones for my partner who is the colorist, and she lives across the globe in AUSTRALIA. In addition, I need the money to purchase envelopes and sleeves for them, and also need factor shipping/handling costs—THAT ADDS UP.

I hope you guys can help out by spreading the word or even *gasp* purchasing a copy yourself.
For more info on what you can get, please click this link and click on one of the pre-orders and see if you’re interested

If you really want high activity and Traffic, then you might want to Try Christian Anime Alliance. The forum isn’t very pretty to look at and needs an overhaul but if your looking for a website that has some activity for you to post a reply, then CAA is for you. THey also got probably the biggest review list for anime through a Christian lense.I wish they have a better feed on all these websites, but if are just attentive enough but certainly the good content wont stop you from going to this site.Sign up today @http://www.christiananime.net/

FEATURE THIS! Actually admittingly this is the first site I was looking for as my first official Christian art website. Originally the formal was pretty much simular to CCAS, but the website has just been transformed to as a nice layout with just blogger tips on how to be an artist and Christian. I love the layout, but it kind of just lost the social networking pretty much. But in a gain, I really want to read the tips from them.
Since the Grove for me personally is gear to generally artist and nerds, I kind of abadoned the website a bit and was more interested in finding the nerd type and I found CCAS.  But if you need some general artist tips, then the grove may help out alot. Probably comparable as another blog site. And also apparently its a retreat for Christian Artist, so, maybe one day I might visit there. So giving its actually a website for an Christian Artist Retreat is actually something worth Giving attention to. We need all the support for the modern media we can get and having painting retreat can foster us artist in the entertainment industry.Give their support at:http://thegrovecenter.org/the-grove-retreat-center

This is a website that I have known for probably the longest time out of anyone: Christian Comic Art Society.

I remeber meet up with these guys the year I went to Comic con and attend two of those panels. It a small community but they are very inviting and willing. Ive met one girl who loves the Aquabats and Yo Gabba.

Its smooth running and alot of text, and small community, but with more people and time, perhaps it will be better. I think though the design is fine enough. It is also a social network for artist so its like facebook with a little deviant art to it.

Find CCAS on their website:

Raven from That So Raven and the Bill Cosby Show is in my class. She pick me to paint me, and I did the same. I pretty much did this in two nights and really risked making this more colorful. I wasn’t sure if I was allowed, but Raven, and my teacher, Henry Yan love it. My color pallet is based off of thinking orange blue, but wondering if red and pink would work, but figured it out using adobe Kuler. It does work out nicely. 4.bp.blogspot.com/_svQZrtFh-H4…I think Impasto is my favorite technique since you can mimic layering with acrylics, and you can get less Muddy Colors.Inspiration is drawing from 16th Century art history class learning about Impasto and  also as well as Zimou tan, Web Academy on Oil painting,  learning about alla primaand researching many artists  on google and youtube, before attempting this result.
